The Super Bowl, According to Dogs

“What a boring football game! Lots of goodies on the coffee table. Are you thinking what I’m thinking?’
“I’m thinking of snatching that sausage and running for a touch down.”
“OK, go for it and I’ll block for you to stall them. “
“I’ll grab it when they least expect it.”
“Quick, they’re preoccupied right now by the Budweiser ad.”
“Oh, no, she saw you grab it. Look out, he‘s trying to tackle you.  Don’t worry. I’ve got your back. Head for the kitchen and save half for me.”
“Oh, was I supposed to share?”
“Brat! Next time you block.”

I wrote this drabble (100 word story) a couple of years ago and thought I would post it since the Super Bowl is only one week away. You can also find this short story along with several other short stories about animals in my published book, "Flickertail & Paint, Barnyard Sleuths".

Just Signed up for the Apptivo Campaign through BzzAgent

Unfortunately,I'm a bit disappointed in the Apptivo website. I can't find any answers to questions about how much web hosting is. Perhaps I have to sign up first to get those answers. Apptivo states that they are the best free way to run your business. I may have my husband sign up for it since the company he works for is looking for an inexpensive way to have a website. If I like what they can do for them, I may try them for a more professional looking author website.

Book Review of SOUL PRINT by Mark Batterson

I’ve decided to approach this review by sharing what SOUL PRINT meant to me.
One of the reasons I write is to leave a legacy. According to the author, that is also why we live.
Those of you, who know me, know I believe God places the right people, in the right place, at the right time. Mark Batterson is one of those “right people.”
Mark believes to truly discover yourself, you must place God at the center of your self-discovery rather than yourself. You must learn to embrace your past, good or bad, because all of your past experiences are a part of your ‘soul print’.
As Mark’s words encouraged me to relive the defining moments of my life, I felt like I was putting the pieces of a puzzle together. It was amazing how perfectly they fit and how every piece was necessary in shaping my life. It was like it was all part of a Divine Plan.
You may think you know everything there is to know about yourself and your purpose here on this earth but, to be truly fulfilled, you must complete God’s destiny for you.
You will never be able to worship God completely, until you become the best version of the you that God created you to be.
Every morning I pray: “Thank you God for all of the days you have given me so far. Please bless this day as I offer it up to you.”
Now I add another sentence to my prayer. “Please help me to discover and become the person you created me to be.”
Mark Batterson is the lead pastor of National Community Church in Washington DC

Will the Chevy Volt be Another Edsel?

Will the Chevy Volt be Another Edsel?

This is my first article for Suite 101 and my first car review. You may find it somewhat controversial but I think it raises some legitimate concerns.

This is the Chevy Volt concept car. Too bad they didn't stay with this more exciting styling.

Book Review of Divine Appointments by Charlene Ann Baumbich

Divine Appointments by Charlene Ann Baumbich was an introspective, fun to read book. I found the characters to be realistic and well developed. I enjoyed the unusual plot. The main character, Josie is referred to as Hatchet Hand by one of the other characters. That should give you a clue as to what Josie did for a living. In spite of her job, I grew to like her. I think she is the character I most related to. We all know people who are driven by their careers and the pursuit of success. It was fascinating and rewarding to watch Josie discover there is more to life than just those things.

There was one jarring element to the realism in the story. I found the “supernatural” symbolic snow globe to be distracting. Although, it was an interesting literary device, I had a problem accepting it within Josie’s otherwise pragmatic approach to life.

I did enjoy Ms. Baumbich’s writing style and am looking forward to reading some of her other books.

New mortgage appraisal requirement for refinancing jeopardizes privacy

Currently, we have an ARM. Our financial institution offered us an opportunity to get out of the ARM and into a fixed rate. Yesterday, the appraiser came armed with a camera and informed us the new requirements now include interior photos.

I was quite upset by this news. Partly because my house wasn't exactly spotless but also because of privacy concerns. I asked him who sees these photos. He admitted he didn't know.

I don't think the contents of one's home is anyone else's business. Who knows how these photos might be used?
