Suzanne Kidwell is a complex character. She is an unethical journalist with some pretty underhanded ways of getting a story and her lack of research causes at least one person to commit suicide when her articles about him destroy his life. Politicians, business people, and religious leaders, are not safe from Suzanne's mighty, if sometimes inaccurate pen. So there are plenty of people who would like to see her dead.
When one of the people she is investigating, ends up dead on her living room carpet, she is accused of the murder and it is up to her ex-finance, Marcus and his partner, Alex to prove her innocence. Since Suzanne betrayed Marcus in college, he isn't too happy about taking her case.
The investigation discloses some very dark secrets, putting all of their lives in danger.
The author writes a fast paced story with all of the usual twists and turns I enjoy in a good murder mystery. Once I started reading, I didn't want to put it down. Along the way, I even managed to like Suzanne.
I received this book free from Blogging for Books in exchange for my honest review.
